About Us
Outcast Kits was born from a simple but powerful idea: fishing is more fun when you build it yourself. Dreamed up by the three operations partners behind Outcast Lure Company, we set out to create something entirely our own — a way to spark genuine excitement about the fishing lifestyle in the next generation of anglers. Same heritage, new mission.
We believe the best days on the water start long before you ever cast a line. They start at the kitchen table, with a kid and a parent hunched over a kit, figuring it out together. Outcast Kits is built for families with kids ages 8–15 who are ready to trade screen time for something real — a shared experience that gets everyone outside, engaged, and hooked on a hobby that lasts a lifetime. And fair warning to the adults in the room: once you try it yourself, you'll want your own kit too.
Here's what makes it special: every lure your family builds is one of a kind. Completely unique in the entire world. Your first build might not look like something off a factory line — and that's exactly the point. With every kit, builders develop real skills, real patience, and real pride. The lures get better. The casts get longer. And somewhere along the way, a kid discovers they're not just a fisher — they're a maker. More often than not, the grown-ups figure out the same thing about themselves.
That's the Outcast Kits experience. Get outside. Build something. Catch something. Repeat.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age is Outcast Kits designed for?
Our kits are designed with kids ages 8–15 in mind, but don't be surprised if the adults at the table get just as hooked. Lure building is a skill that grows with you — beginners and experienced anglers alike find something to love.
Do I need any prior fishing or crafting experience?
None at all. Every kit includes everything you need to get started, with clear instructions that make the building process fun and approachable for first-timers.
Is every lure truly unique?
Yes — every lure built with an Outcast Kit is one of a kind. The combinations of colors, materials, and finishing touches mean no two lures are ever exactly alike. Yours will be the only one like it in the world.
Can the lures actually be used for fishing?
Absolutely — that's the whole point. For best results on the water, we recommend finishing your lure with a protective top coat to lock in the paint and maximize durability.
The best option is a UV cured Resin, available at most craft stores (or nail salon supply shops) We will carry top coat materials in our store so your creation can handle whatever you throw at it, cast after cast. Keep an eye on our ProShop for availability.
What makes Outcast Kits different from buying a lure at a store?
A store-bought lure is just a lure. An Outcast Kit is an experience — the story of building it together, the skills you pick up along the way, and the extra satisfaction when a fish hits something you made yourself.
